A Dolls House, by Henrik Ibsen Essay Example For Students

A Dolls House, by Henrik Ibsen Essay In the play, A Dolls House, by Henrik Ibsen there appears to incorporate genuine social discourse basic in this piece. This play is clearly incredulous of the timespan, yet additionally presents almost no arrangements. The play is scrutinizing the general public of the ideal opportunity for its organized progressive system of male predominance. The play has put its fault by capably making characters that deliver issues of intensity and control, numbness and blamelessness, resurrection, and economic wellbeing. Over the span of the play, each character and their communications with each other assistance to strengthen the creations analysis of an inconsistent society. A Dolls House made the character of Nora so as to depict how ladies of his timespan are uninformed of their circumstance in the public arena. The play additionally endeavored to show how ladies are instructed to play uninformed. She doesn't understand until the finish of the play that men have consistently controlled her. Her obliviousness is obvious through everything in her life. She doesn't take the way that she has youngsters truly. She has an attendant deal with her youngsters and she visits them when she feels like it. Nora plays with her youngsters like they are some offbeat articles that amuse her for one second and bore her the following. She has no understanding of how to bring up youngsters or how to be a mother by any stretch of the imagination. Toward the finish of the play Nora admits to Helmer, how am I prepared to raise the youngsters (Ibsen 608). Nora isn't permitted to control anything in her life. In what manner can she deal with kids on the off chance that she can't deal with herself Her controlling spouse has maintained her uninformed in control to have control over her. Besides, another event in the play that shows Noras learned numbness is the approaching issue of the unlawful advance that she took out in her dads name. Her obliviousness becomes exposed when she uncovers her mystery to Mrs. Linde. Nora accepts that she has a genuine achievement that she can be glad for. In her vain endeavor to attempt to persuade Mrs. Linde that she doesn't have the attitude of a youngster, Noras obliviousness turns out to be terribly evident. Combined with this occurrence is the scene later in the play when Krogstad goes up against Nora with the way that she submitted evident fabrication so as to make sure about the advance. Krogstad uncovers to her that he recognizes what she has done and that there are genuine legitimate disciplines that could wreck her life. She can't appreciate the way that she violated the law. Krogstad understands this and tells Nora, Mrs. Helmer, clearly you havent the vaguest thought of what youve included yourself in (Ibsen 594). In her obliviousness she attempts to make a feeling of guiltlessness for herself. She attempts to dissuade Krogstad that her activities were all legitimate. Nora genuinely accepts that she made the best decision and the possibility that she violated any law never enters her thoughts. She spared her spouses existence with that cash and that is the finish of that issue. Her protected world worked over long stretches of visually impaired numbness comes slamming down when she at last understands that she should wake up and face reality. A Dolls House utilizes its devices to show his conspicuous disdain of a general public that is inconsistent and separated. Nora is oblivious in light of the fact that men have consistently made her that way. It is their methods for concealment. By being oblivious of their circumstance, ladies of Ibsens time are uninformed to the issue. The play utilizes the case of taking an advance to show the significant defects in the general public and culture of this timeframe. A Dolls House has an issue with the way that a lady can't be paid attention to or even have an independent mind. .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .postImageUrl , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .focused content zone { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:hover , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:visited , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:active { border:0!important; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; change: haziness 250ms; webkit-change: obscurity 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:active , .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:hover { mistiness: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-change: murkiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .focused content region { width: 100%; position: relative; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .ctaText { outskirt base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-embellishment: underline; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; text style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; fringe: none; fringe range: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; text style weight: striking; line-stature: 26px; moz-outskirt span: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-adornment: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-stature: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b . focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u42c2dce77a099f95b58e1e34dbc29c6b:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Creative Writing EssayThis piece needs individuals to understand the issues with a general public organized this way and it utilizes straightforward, regular guides to express what is on his mind. These acknowledge of her own numbness being utilized against her permits Noras character to investigate hidden issues of intensity. Noras spouse has consistently controlled her life. Prior to him, it was her dad. Nora has consistently been a keeps an eye on doll. Towards the finish of the play, Nora asks Helmer for what reason they have never plunked down and discussed anything truly and he reacts, But dearest, what great would that ever do you (Ibsen 608) He wonderments at her magnificence and invests heavily in the way that she is his ownership. Her worth is in her assent and her magnificence not her psyche. Noras numbness persuades that she is in charge of something. As a general rule she is a manikin. In addition, this significant subject of intensity and control are additionally obvious in the connection among Krogstad and Nora. He is extorting her so as to attempt to spare his activity. Krogstad knows Noras mystery and is utilizing it to control her. Much the same as the standards of society during Ibsens time, ladies have essentially no force. Men who were in unrivaled positions continually controlled the ladies of that timeframe. They have no option since society directs that it must be like this. Similarly, Helmer has impact over Krogstad. It might be said, Krogstads life is in Helmers hands. He can fire Krogstad at his impulse and send him tumbling down the social stepping stool once more. Just in a couple of circumstances is this implicit law valid. For instance in the connection among Krogstad and Mrs. Linde, she has control over him since he is enamored with her. She can control his activities and potentially spare Nora by utilizing his adoration for her against him. This topic of intensity and control is a significant issue all through the play. The finish of the play closes with Nora choosing to begin another life alone. She has dealt with her numbness and understood that as yet, she has been the object of a keeps an eye on control. Her resurrection, regardless of whether a decent choice or not, happens after she chooses to leave Helmer and carry on with her very own existence. So far in the play, Nora isn't an individual since she has consistently been an item. Society and her own numbness have consistently controlled her. After she leaves her better half, kids and all that she has ever known, Nora turns into her own individual. Without precedent for her life she is all alone and can think for her. Nora tells Helmer toward the finish of the play that, I need to attempt to instruct myself. You cannot assist me with that. Ive got the opportunity to do only it. What's more, that is the reason Im leaving you now (Ibsen 608). Another man will never again control her. Her resurrection has prompted her own freedom. She is liberated from Krogstad and her better half. A Dolls House is attempting to get it’s point over that for most ladies living during this timeframe, fleeing was practically outlandish and inconceivable. This creation needs it to be exceptionally certain this is a difficult that must be managed in light of the fact that it influences everybody. The play’s style is to distinguish a significant issue inside society and uncover it however not to profess to have any of the appropriate responses. A Dolls House censures the social structure of this timespan through the story. This piece attempts to show how oblivious men are to the way that they control their spouses musings and activities. They don't pay attention to ladies. Nora underlines this point by saying, you never got me. Ive been wronged extraordinarily. .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 , .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 .postImageUrl , .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 .focused content territory { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 , .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540:hover , .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540:visited , .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540:active { border:0!important; } .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .uf0f358bda53faf0041e872c6533e9540 { show: square; progress: ba

Complan Case Study free essay sample

COMPLAN Too Much of a Good Thing? The issue of showcasing Complan is to some degree irregular. It is, and it is seen as, far better than contending items. Furthermore, that is definitely the issue. As one housewife commented, Its an overdose of something that is otherwise good. Do I truly require all that? The source of Complan clarifies its incomprehensibly predominant detailing. It was created by Glaxo Laboratories as a total and adjusted sustenance for genuine clinical and careful patients unfit to take ordinary food. Brought into the Indian market in the mid sixties, Complan was first advanced morally, that is, to specialists who at that point endorsed it for their patients. This moral situating as complete and adjusted sustenance got excellent help from specialists and a developing, if humble, tonnage of deals was accomplished. In any case, after some time development leveled off. In 1970, Glaxo set up a Family Products bunch in the Company with the object of advancing a portion of its moral brands over-the-counter, that is, elevating them straightforwardly to shoppers with broad communications promoting. It was decided this would enormously expand their business volume. Complan was one such item and it more than supported those expectationsâ€for some time. Situating by Competitor In its absolute first open appearance, Complan received the technique of Positioning by Competitor. It situated itself legitimately against milk. Your body needs 23 fundamental nourishments, said the primary promotion, Milk gives 9-Complan gives each of the 23 (Exhibit 6. 6). Notice the semi-clinical look of the publicizing which mirrors the progress from moral to buyer advancement. The duplicate gives impressive verifiable data about these 23 supplements and how they influence real capacities; e. g. protein to develop and fix tissues and cells; calcium for solid teeth and bones; folic corrosive to shape fresh blood cells; nutrient A for the eyes, and so forth. This publicizing and the position accepted by the brand made a high level of mindfulness and preliminaries. The purchaser offtake of the brand rose from a volume file of 100 of every 1969-70 to 298 out of 1973-74. The consistent development additionally mirrored that a significant number who attempted the brand adhered to it and over and again bought it (Figure 6. 2). In spite of the achievement of this technique, there was cause for reconsidering. What truly did this situating suggest? Taken to its sensible extraordinary, it implied that Complan ought to dislodge milk from the feasting table. In India, especially, milk has a novel situation in the purchasers mind. It is viewed as the wellspring of life, development and wellbeing; it is right around an object of worship as an important fixing in numerous strict ceremonies. Additionally, with Operation Flood well under way, milk, as powder and furthermore as new milk from the Mother Dairies, was being given a lot of promoting and publicizing support. Battling milk would not be a cakewalk. Furthermore, as a socially mindful corporate resident, Glaxo pondered whether it ought to be in the matter of thumping milk which shaped such a crucial piece of the countries wellbeing and sustenance plans. Wisely, this situating technique for Complan was surrendered. Actually, here was a great occurrence of taking a gander at a key situating choice: Which item class would we say we are contending in? On the off chance that not milk, at that point the intelligent item class definition must be other malted milk-nourishments like Horlicks, Viva, Bournvita. This can likewise be depicted as the wellbeing refreshment item class. Situating versus Horlicks The system appeared to be readymade! By what method would it be advisable for us to reposition Complan? Why, against Horlicks, obviously, the pioneer in the wellbeing refreshment classification? Simply request that the shopper look at the name of Complan, so stuffed with all great sustaining things, with the mark of Horlicks whose rundown of fixings runs out in the wake of naming a couple. The situating procedure was like what had demonstrated to effective earlierâ€positioning by qualities and by the fundamental contender. Research information additionally indicated that numerous Complan clients were prior clients of Horlicks. The incomparable nourisherâ€Horlicksâ€was to be treated as the repository from which would stream a constant flow of shoppers to Complan. The new feature in the Press advertisements (1973-74) stated: Your body needs 23 fundamental nourishments consistently. Check: what number of do other food drinks give? The buyer was asked to peruse the name on the Complan tin and to contrast it and the mark of his current image, thought to be Horlicks (Exhibit 6. 7). This methodology bombarded. The year 1974-75 was the first run through when deals of Complan declined (Figure 6. 2). An exhaustive survey appeared called for. Audit of Strategy Sales information just as buyer examine, including bunch conversations, carried some key issues to the surface. Value Complans cost was twice that of Horlicks. Buyers concurred that Complan was a predominant wellspring of sustenance however they likewise felt it was an overdose of something that is otherwise good for them. Did they truly require it? Taste Its taste was all around hated, viciously so by youngsters, who were regularly compelled to drink it by wellbeing cognizant moms. Indeed, even a spoonful of sugar couldnt cause it to go down! System Was Complan progressing nicely in its distraction with battling the contender, Horlicks, headon? Would it be better for Complan to accomplish a recognition in its own right? Rather than making Horlicks the standard of examination, would it be a good idea for one to attempt to make a remarkable situation for Complan and afterward inquire as to whether Horlicks or some other contender could be subbed in that position? Exchange with the Consumer Complans discourse with the customer had obviously separated. A few meetings had the accompanying example. Mother: Elderly individual : I know Complan is beneficial for him (my child), yet he cannot stand the taste. My PCP requested that I take Complan after my sickness; since I am OK, nothing more will be tolerated. Housewife: Complan is acceptable however we cannot manage the cost of it. I thoroughly consider well change to Horlicks. It costs just half so much. Madam, for what reason do you use Horlicks? All things considered, we all try sincerely and I feel more consoled on the off chance that we take a bonus, other than ordinary food. What's more, its such a notable item and a kind of family custom, you see. Be that as it may, Madam, Complan gives you a lot more sustenance than Horlicks. All things considered, were not a wiped out family, you know. What we need is a touch of additional sustenance, not a day by day portion of medication. Questioner: Housewife: Interviewer: Housewife: An enormous mass of research information brought out one extremely valuable chunk: In the Horlicks family unit there were multiple clients of the item overall. In the Complan family unit, the normal number of item clients was far less. This appeared significantâ€that Complan was seen as something more extraordinary than Horlicks and was along these lines all the more specifically utilized. While different brands like Bournvita and the business were developing, Complan was definitely not. In any case, the more noteworthy information was that regardless of whether there were not many extra proselytes, there was consistent repurchase of Complan by numerous families showing that it had a center of faithful clients in spite of its appearing handicaps. For what reason did they stay with Complan? Research in addition to judgment gave the appropriate response. There were numerous family units with youngsters who were fastidious eaters and moms continually stressed over their absence of sustenance. There were obsessive worker spouses who skipped breakfast or lunch. There were seniors and convalescents for whom the housewife felt dependable when they went off their food. What's more, there was this glorious lady herself, occupied with dealing with others and completely depleted toward the finish of her day by day tasks. The New Look of Complan system experienced an extreme change. It was presently chosen to position itâ€not by competitorâ€but by target client and use event. Complans position could now be expressed as follows: Complan is perfect for thoroughly satisfying the sustenance needs of individuals who can't or don't eat enough, in light of the fact that just Complan is finished with 23 essential nourishments for the body. Show 6. 8 (1975-76) is an unambiguous case of publicizing intended to serve an obvious situating technique. The film business (TV opened up sometime in the not too distant future) sensationalized these use events all the more strikingly: the issue eater youngster hurling his food aside; the spouse surging off with his uneaten breakfast on the table; the convalescing senior who has no hunger for food; the hassled housewife herself. In such circumstances, to what could the stressed mother and housewife turn? What wellbeing drink would guarantee her of all the sustenance that was required in these unique, yet regular circumstances? The promotions plainly introduced Complan as an item which was one of a kind and complete in its sustenance esteem. It was not, at this point an overdose of something that is otherwise good yet the main brand with enough beneficial things to give her the consolation she required. Could this position be sufficiently subbed by some other brand? No chance. Complan publicizing, however the item itself wore another and progressively alluring look. The bundle configuration was tidied up and modernized. The items taste was improved through an adjustment in the assembling procedure. New flavors were presented: Chocolate, as a result of its all inclusive prevalence, particularly with the youthful; Cardamom Saffron, a regularly Indian flavor with pictures of wellbeing and goodness; the Strawberry season was saved for later introductionâ€as a scrumptious, frosted beverage. What's more, the cost was expanded! With this promotion, Complan split away from correlation with Horlicks to cut out its own unmistakable specialty as the main complete wellbeing refreshment to suit explicit events and clients. The Take-Off undeniably, this repositioning methodology, together with item upgrades, gave the push to a take-off in deals. From a file number of 203 of deals volume in 1974-75 (1969-70 = 100), deals shot up to a record of 408 by 1978-79â€a multiplying of volume in four years. Find Support If you can, get support from co-workers, from friends or family, or even an online support group. Talking about whats stressing you out and finding resources should help a lot.?? Dont Be Afraid to Ask for Help You may feel like it shows weakness to ask your co-worker or boss questions, but asking for help  lets them know youre working hard to understand how things flow rather than trying to do something you arent sure of on your own (and potentially messing it up). A side benefit of asking questions is that you can start building a rapport with your boss and/or co-workers. Accept That Theres a Learning Curve Every job is tougher at the beginning as you figure out whats expected of you and how to best perform your tasks. Like everything in life that we do repeatedly, it will get easier and before you know it, youll have found a routine and rhythm and youll feel confident in your job and your ability to do it. Keep this in mind when you start to feel stressed or overwhelmed. Use Quick Stress Relievers Have some quick stress relievers that you can use when youre feeling overwhelmed.?? Breathing exercises, for example, can help slow or reverse the fight-or-flight response you experience when stressed, which saves the wear and tear on your health that chronic stress can cause. Taking a walk can also help calm you down, or  you can keep a stress ball or a fidget spinner at your desk to channel any extra energy and nervousness you might have. Have a Regular Hobby That Helps Relieve Stress Try to maintain some time in your life to do some stress-relieving  activities, so that you feel less stress overall. Ideas include regular exercise, yoga, and engaging in a hobby or another activity that you enjoy, such as drawing, painting, writing, woodcarving, playing an instrument, talking to a friend, listening to music, meditation, gardening, bowling, or fishing. The options are endless! Take Care of Yourself If youre able to eat right, get enough sleep, and take daily vitamins, youll be less worn down physically so youll be less reactive to stress, and youll be in better overall health too.?? Taking care of yourself also boosts your cognitive abilities so you can concentrate and focus better at work.

ACT Tutoring Anatomy of the Science Reasoning Section

To improve anything, whether that thing is a test or an academic subject, the first necessary step is to understand the structure of that thing. By understanding the framework in which a subject is organized we help our mind take in information. In particular, for test taking, the better we can take in information the more efficient and accurate we can become as we go through our test preparation. In the case of the ACT, I’ll survey the Science Reasoning section on the ACT and share my tips as a long time ACT tutor. For starters, you should know the structure of the ACT: You have 35 minutes to complete 40 questions. Those questions are spread out among 7 passages. Each passage, sometimes with exception of 1 or 2, will have a combination of short paragraphs of information interspersed with figures in the form of tables, charts and graphs. That information will be split up into a series of studies that are all about the same subject matter, or the paragraphs may represent the views of two different students, researchers or scientists on the same topic. On the Science Reasoning section, the test-taker does not need to have a strong knowledge base in science to do well on the exam. It’s not a test of memory. Rather, it is more important that the test-taker be adept at efficiently and accurately reading the different figures. I would say that approximately 80%* of the questions can be answered without reading the content. That number could be slightly more or less depending on the particular administration of the ACT. Recently, I did a quick brainstorm with one of my ACT students to write down what we felt were some important but basic strategies to follow when preparing for the ACT. Take a look at these crucial ACT test taking tips and study skills. Start to integrate them into your standardized test preparation as soon as possible. Science Strategies: If a question refers to a figure, table, graph, etc., immediately identify that picture and stick your finger on it. Underline salient variables and numbers and mark them – relationships and information will more likely reveal themselves to you – the key is to not just sit and stare at question and the accompanying answer choices hoping the right answer will reveal itself to you. If the question is referring to more than one chart, table, graph, figure, use one hand to identify one picture and the other hand to identify the other and then be very meticulous in separating out what information is being asked for. Ask yourself, what do the variables being presented have in common? What do they not have in common? Can you take seemingly complex information and boil it all down to a simpler term? On Yes – No questions first figure out whether the answer is yes or no, and then for the two remaining answers pick the right explanation to support that decision. *That 80% is not the result of big data, but an intuitive guess. ;

Book review: The Old Man and the Sea. Written by Ernest Hemingway in 1951 (published 1952). The Old man and the Sea is perhaps one of his most famous works, which won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. â€Å"You did not kill the fish only to keep alive and to sell for food, he thought. You killed him for pride and because you are a fisherman. You loved him when he was alive and you loved him after. If you love him, it is not a sin to kill him. Or is it more? -You think too much, old man, he said aloud.† This is a piece of the text from The Old man and the Sea. This is at the end of the book, when the head character thinks aloud to himself. He loves Santiago, who is like a father to him. Manolin gives Santiago food and coffee when he needs it. Even if the old man is unlucky, Manolin wants to sail with him. Medicare And The Elderly Of The United States - 1160 Words

The quantity of Medicare eligible individuals continues to grow as the median age of the population of the United States rises. The old Medicare system has become outdated and strained because of the volume of individuals that are currently receiving benefits within the program. Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicare has become the main source of delivering healthcare insurance for the elderly of the United States. In order to meet the current requirements of the ACA, Medicare must be reformed in order to provide the promised services for the individuals that are currently receiving benefits and for the future survival of the program. Medicare was established by the federal government to provide healthcare insurance initially for the elderly and included the disabled a few years after the program’s inception. As of 2013, there were 52.3 million beneficiaries of Medicare, with an average of $11,910 spent on each individual for healthcare, with a total annual budget of $582.9 billion (NCPSSM, 2015). Medicare is funded through two trust fund accounts that are held by the U.S. Treasury: the Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI) Trust Funds (Medicare.gov, 2015). Acme Incorporated Accounting Practises free essay sample

This paper is an analysis of Acme Incorporated accounting practices on deferred income taxes and the discrepancies between tax and book depreciation methods found by the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Stephanie Delaney, the new director of corporate taxation. We will write a custom essay sample on Acme Incorporated Accounting Practises or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page As a result of such discrepancies, Acme realizes large deferred tax liability, thus reducing the income taxes paid. In addition, Ms. Delaney found out about the policy of selling plant assets before they would reverse in the deferred tax liability account. This policy complemented with the rapid expansion of the plant asset base allowed a continuous defer of income taxes payable for many years. Despite finding the policies legal, Ms. Delaney doubted their ethics. The analysis discusses about the Acme’s reasons of selling plant assets before the deferred tax liability is reversed, its ethical implications, who might get harmed by such policies and what are Ms. Delaney’s responsibilities as a CPA and director of corporate taxation. As stated above, Acme has the policy of selling plant assets before the temporary differences reverse, thus avoiding deferred tax payments. When the temporary differences reverse, taxable income would be higher than financial accounting income. Acme would start paying taxes it deferred from the previous years, in case the tax depreciation exceeds book depreciation. To avoid it, Acme sells the plant assets. This policy coupled with the rapid expansion of the asset base suggests that the company is deferring tax liabilities when they sell the existing assets, by requiring new ones. Acme’s method of restructuring their assets, results in 100 % deferral of the tax liabilities. Furthermore, selling-off assets before the temporary difference reverses, enables Acme to minimize the taxes paid by using a legal strategy plan. The Federal Government provides such incentives to the businesses, so making use of deferring tax payable incentive, does not bring any legal or ethical issue. On the other hand, there is a concern that Acme is not paying its â€Å"fair share† of taxes, thus gaining on the expense of the Federal government. In addition, Federal Government would be harmed by Acme’s practice of deferring income tax payable, because it receives fewer taxes that otherwise they would receive if Acme would not practice the same policy. Furthermore, in case the replacement assets are more expensive to acquire, the cash flow is decreased, negatively affecting short-term investors and creditors benefits. Situations ethicality is one major problem that a CPA faces. Being a CPA requires to advocate objectivity and integrity of financial reporting. Since, Ms. Delaney is uncomfortable with the ethics of Acme’s accounting practices, than she should communicate her discomfort and concern to the Acme’s managers and also to the Audit Committee and probably to the Board of Directors. The selling of the plant assets before the temporary differences reversed in the deferred tax liability account is considered as a profitable and ethical policy by Acme Incorporated but it is not considered ethical by Ms. Delaney. Such policy benefits the corporation due to the huge decrease in the deferred tax payable. Before talking actions, the CPA has to be clarified upon the reasons of adopting such policies, which is why Ms. Delaney should talk with managers.

The word # 8220 ; rayyah # 8221 ; literally translates into # 8220 ; the protected flock of the Sultan # 8221 ; . While Ottoman society was clearly divided into distinguishable societal categories, these categories were neither closed nor constraining, intending that with the proper properties and fortune, a adult male could raise his societal position. F or illustration, to be a member of the little opinion category below the Sultan, one had to possess the undermentioned three qualities: deep-seated nationalism and trueness for the Empire and the Sultan. credence and pattern of Islam, which was inte grated into the Ottoman life style. cognition and pattern of the Ottoman Way, which consisted of complex imposts, behaviour, and linguistic communication. If a rayyah possessed these qualities, he had a opportunity of going one of the numbered leaders. On the other manus, if a leader appeared to be missing one or more of these qualities, he could merely as easy be removed from his place and sink to being a rayyah once more. The determining force behind the Ottoman Empire was most decidedly the faith of Islam. As a consequence, faith became a foremost steering factor in people # 8217 ; s lives. To keep spiritual harmoniousness and integrity among the diverse Muslim and non-Muslim religious orders of the Empire, the rayyah category were given the right to form themselves as they wished. What happened following is that people gravitated towards religion-dictated groups. The people of each of import faith and/or sect organized themselves into egoistic, autonomous communities called millets. Millets were like mini-states, that regulated smaller civic affairs such as matrimonies, deceases, etc. In a sense, the Ottoman Empire was like the Un ited States is today ; a powerful # 8220 ; federal # 8221 ; authorities that ruled from the place of power in Istanbul, while # 8220 ; millet province # 8221 ; authoritiess ruled over their little localities. The significance of millets is that they kept diverse peoples from colliding excessively much, since each cultural/religious group maintained a dignified distance from each other. This is non to state that the public of the Ottoman Empire could non acquire along together though. The people of the Ottoman Empire were united through other common involvements, ethical motives, and ideals, every bit good as by an overpowering consentaneous trueness to the Sultan himself. Such was the harmonious and organized society of the Ottoman Empire, the immense imperium that left its grade on Turkey # 8211 ; and the universe # 8211 ; everlastingly. Neatly categorized into alone places, each person in the Ottoman Empire had his or her ain portion to play in society, a function to carry t hrough in order to lend to the overall success of the province.

Free Essays on Blinding Fate - Oedipus The King

Blinding Fate Oedipus, King of Thebes, is bounded by fate and blinded by his ignorance. In Sophocles’ Oedipus the King, Oedipus is doomed to fall, predestined by fortune. By the play’s end, the King of Thebes fulfills the oracle. This sentiment is supported by several examples throughout the tragedy, all of which are beyond the control of the poor King. His fall from grace is to occur regardless of his character or any outside intervention. Despite Oedipus’s physical ability to see, he is blinded to the truth because of his arrogance and character traits. This juxtaposes the prophet Tiresias, who is inherently blind but sees not only the truth but beyond, outside the realm of the present. The King jeers Tiresias for his blindness when he has to force him to proclaim his revelation against his will. Oedipus is so blinded by his own self-assertion that he does not even see the significance of his name, serving as an ironic clue to his past. The prophecy that Oedipus would murd er his father and marry his mother seems completely irrational to the King because of his naivity. In an ironic twist, Oedipus becomes more like Tiresias in the end, physically blinded himself but finally grasping the truth. Oedipus still lacks Tiresias’s ability of foresight. As the tragedy opens, Oedipus’s city Thebes, is ridden with plague. Many are dying and the people, represented as the Chorus, are in a somewhat alarmed state. The King holds true to his character and addresses the problem head on. He sends Creon, his brother-in-law and uncle, to the prophet Delphi to gain insight on how to end the plague. Unknown to Oedipus, his biological father Laius received the prophecy that his son would kill him and marry his wife, from the same oracle. In witness of the Chorus, Creon returns and at the King’s bidding delivers his message in the presence of the public. â€Å"As a measure of his own greatness, he will resolve Thebes’s distress, and he wil... Solar Winds and Lightning Strikes

Solar Winds and Lightning Strikes When you go outdoors for play or work, it probably never occurs to you that the lovely yellow Sun that heats and warms our planet is also responsible for a whole raft of other actions that affect us and our planet. Its true - and without the Sun we wouldnt have the beauty of the northern and southern lights, or - as it turns out - some of the lightning strikes that come during thunderstorms. Lightning strikes?   Really? Lets take a look at how that might be a solar effect. The Sun-Earth Connection The Sun is a somewhat active star. It regularly sends out giant outbursts called solar flares and coronal mass ejections. The material from these events rides out from the Sun on the solar wind, which is a constant stream of energetic particles called electrons and protons. When those charged particles get to Earth, some interesting things can happen.   First, they encounter Earths magnetic field, which protects the surface and lower atmosphere from the solar wind by deflecting the energetic particles around the planet. Those particles DO interact with the topmost layers of the atmosphere, often creating northern and southern lights. If the solar storm is strong enough, our technology can be affected - telecommunications, GPS satellites, and electrical grids - can be disrupted or even shut down.   What About the Lightning? When these charged particles   have enough energy to penetrate down into the cloud-forming regions of the Earths atmosphere, they can affect our weather.  Scientists found evidence that some lightning strikes on Earth may well be triggered by energetic particles from the Sun that reach our planet via the solar wind. They measured significant increases in lightning rates across Europe (for example) that occurred for up to 40 days after the arrival of particles carried by high-speed solar winds.   Nobodys quite sure how this works, but scientists are working to understand the interactions. Their data show that electrical properties of the air are somehow changed as the incoming charged particles collide with the atmosphere. Can Solar Activity Help Weather Prediction? If you could predict an increase in lightning strikes by using solar wind streams, that would be a real boon to weather forecasters. Since the solar wind can be tracked by spacecraft, having advance knowledge of solar wind storms would give weather forecasters a significant  chance to warn people about upcoming thunder and lightning storms and their severity. It turns out that astronomers have long known that cosmic rays, which are tiny high-speed particles from across the universe have been thought to play a part in severe weather on Earth. The ongoing studies of charged particles and lightning shows that lower-energy particles created by our own Sun also affect lightning. This is related to a phenomenon called space weather which is defined as geomagnetic disturbances caused by solar activity.   It can affect us here on Earth and in near-Earth space.  This new edition of the Sun-Earth connection, lets astronomers and weather forecasters learn more about both space weather and Earth weather. How Did Scientists Figure This Out? The record lightning strikes over Europe was compared with data from NASAs Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) spacecraft, which lies between the Sun and the Earth and measures the characteristics of solar winds. It is one of NASAs workhorse space weather and solar activity observatories. After the arrival of the  solar wind at the Earth, the researchers showed there was an average of 422 lightning strikes across the UK in the following 40 days, compared to an average of 321 lightning strikes in the 40 days before the solar winds arrival. They noted that the rate of lightning strikes peaked between 12 and 18 days after the arrival of the solar wind. Long-term studies of the connection between the Suns activity and Earthly thunderstorms should give scientists useful tools not just for understanding the Sun, but also to help predict storms here at home.

Proposal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Proposal - Essay Example Problem Statement The ‘We Are Automobile’ company deals with trade of spare parts products to the motor industry and its representatives are often going at potential customers’ premises to sell their products. Currently, the company does not have an Information Technology department and there is no IT system implemented. Therefore, the company processes the customers’ request manually and stores all the information on relative registers. The company is facing many problems due to manually working and inconvenience for storing and accessing information from the premises of the customer. Keeping in view the problem, the company has decided to implement Information Technology solution. There are two possible IT solutions for solving the problems of the company including implementation of traditional Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and the Cloud Computing. The document also discusses advantages and disadvantages of the both solutions along with recommendatio ns for the company to implementation of one of the two technologies. Keeping in view the company’s background and analysis of both solutions, the document reveals that the Cloud Computing has more advantages over the traditional ERP. Further, the document presents a technical approach and project management to implement the proposed solution (Alley, 2010). Information Technology Solutions As mentioned above, there are two IT solutions to solve the problems of the company, the ERP implementation and the Cloud Computing. â€Å"A system designed to support and automate the business processes of medium and large businesses. It provides an enterprise wide solution for all business activities with a single application and single data repository† (Mutt, 2010). A comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution may be developed to solve the problems and fulfil the requirements of the company. Usually, the modules of ERP include Finance & Accounting, Customer Relations hip Management, Human Resources Management, Payroll, Inventory & Procurement, Sales and Project Management. The ERP is a complete solution that can provide services to the company and make the company ICT enabled (Ingthorsson, 2012). The second possible IT solution is Cloud Computing that provides hosted services over the Internet. There are mainly three categories of these services including: Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). Furthermore, the cloud services can be differentiated to the traditional hosting through many features/characteristics; however, the main three diverse features include: the consumer/customer just need to pay all the maintenance/services are managed by the service provider, customer can take services according to requirement (little or full), and the services are provided on demand by hours, days, weeks, etc. (Rouse, 2010). Cloud Computing - Software as a Service, BScaler Comparison of Tradition al System Vs Cloud Computing A comparison of both Information Technology solutions the traditional system and Cloud Computing has been given below (Metal Center News, 2011): S. # Traditional System Cloud Computing 1. On-site or traditional ERP systems have constraints in managing particular Supply Chain tasks that include: inventory accessibility, readability, and order information synchronization at customers’ place. ERP based on cloud computing does not have such constraint as the application can be accessed from

Key microeconomic Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Key microeconomic - Essay Example CPI should not pose a threat to firms such as Proctor and Gamble. The firm can be position in a segment of the market where it would not have to compete directly with the market leaders. The best way to achieve that goal is by implementing a differentiation strategy. A variable that can help the company achieve a differentiation strategy is the quality of its products. A second important economic variable that CPI has to consider is pricing. The pricing strategy is very important because price determines the ability of a company to achieve superior profits. Products that are underpriced may sell well but its overall effect in the profitability of a company is not optimum. CPI has to study the market prices of all the products it sells. In a pricing study the firm should analyze the market price of each product in the US, internationally and online. Selling the products at a premium price can help the firm differentiate from low cost producers. The price structure of the company shoul d be sufficient to pay off for all variable and fixed cost while at the same time leaving a hefty surplus of profits. The profit margin of the enterprise should be equal or better than the industry average.

Plain, Honest Men: The Making of the Constitution Analysis

Plain, Honest Men: The Making of the Constitution Analysis Plain, Honest Men: The Making of the Constitution. By Richard Beeman (New York: Random House) 2009. xxviii + 514 pp. Hardcover, $30.00. ISBN 9781400065707. Richard Beemans book, Plain, Honest Men is a chronological narrative about the day-to-day interactions of the men who made up the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Beeman takes special care in developing the characteristics and personalities of the delegates and explores how their moods, their personal interests, and the hot weather helped to shape the lively debates over the creation of the Constitution. He explores the personal relationships, marriages, and the physical and intellectual idiosyncrasies of the Founding Fathers. Beeman depicts the Framers in a variety of ways. Some of the men were savvy, while others were inept. Some smart and others just mediocre. Some individuals were sophisticated while others were just plain vulgar. Many were quite generous, but others were intensely narcissistic. Beeman characterizes James Madison as being an indispensable but reticent thinker who was incapable of any great oratory or sustained relationships. The author focuses on the issues such as the presidency, slavery, and the necessary and proper clause. On the issue of slavery, Beeman states that for the delegates, it was not the central issue at stake in the making of the American Constitution.[1] The author depicts the angry arguments over representation and its connection to slavery, which Beeman refers to as Bernard DeVotos paradox at the nations core.[2] According to the author, many delegates expressed aversion to slavery, but it was beyond them to conclude a way to abolish slavery without catastrophic consequences to the delicate union. Beeman reconstructs the relationships between Washington and Madison and their intelligent and influential female friends such as Elizabeth Powell, who was the wife of Philadelphias mayor, and also had strong political opinions of her own. Beeman describes George Washington as towering above other men and being reserved in nature. Benjamin Franklin is characterized as being jovial and James Madison as being diminutive. The author portrays Madison as arriving from Virginia with a detailed plan of government that entailed completely scrapping the Articles of Confederation and starting from scratch. William Paterson of New Jersey was balding and of an angry disposition, and yet he spoke his way to distinction as the spokesman of the small states and was resolute to challenge his neighbors in the larger states like New York and Pennsylvania. Roger Sherman was a former shoemaker from Connecticut who overcame his bashful rural persona to become the voice of compromise which soon gained the respect of all convention attendees. Sherman was instrumental in creating the compromise that relinquished some states rights by apportioning the House of Representatives on the basis of population and allowing for equal representation among states in the Senate. Gouverneur Morris, formerly of New York but currently resided in Pennsylvania, had a peg leg and whose arrogance and often careless rhetoric often alienated the other delegates, was a hypnotic speaker. In creating these personalities, he is aware of the confines of his source material. The records of this period were kept by men who most assuredly had partisan agendas and male-controlled receptivity. The book begins with the final days of the Revolution. Congress is bankrupt, the army has turned mutinous because of lack of pay, and the thirteen states do not get along. Daniel Shays, a discontented former army captain, leads his own rebellion in western Massachusetts. Representatives from both the north and the south believe the Articles of Confederation are not working and need to undergo some revisions; therefore, they agree to meet in Philadelphia the summer of 1787. This book is written for general audiences as well as supplemental reading for classroom teachers. In an effort to ensure the reader does not fall into boredom while reading the narrative, Beeman has added peripheral information to keep the readers attention. For example, he adds such trivia as the fact that the State House yard privy had sixteen seats and was divided into four compartments[3], a Philadelphia prostitute charged two dollars[4], and the delegates had beer, bread, and butter for breakfast[5]. The author makes use of both primary and secondary sources. He uses Madisons notes and the papers kept by Hamilton, Madison, and George Washington. Beeman also includes information collected by the Independence National Historic Park to assemble an accurate and authoritative account of the participants of the Constitutional Convention. The books title comes from a remark made by delegate and financier Roger Morris, who viewed the results of the Constitutional Convention as the work of plain, honest men. His important message is that our Founding Fathers could be both realists and idealists. The debates over slavery were the results of the limitations of educated men, who possessed a vision of what effective governance might bear a resemblance to but could not imagine extending the same rights to slaves as citizens. In writing Plain, Honest Men, Beeman avoids controversial issues such as the economic motives of the Founding Fathers and provides readers with an understanding of the fra gility of the consensus emerging from Philadelphia. Richard Beeman is considered by scholars to be an authority on the United States Constitution. He played a leading role in the creation of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and has served as vice-chair of its Distinguished Scholars Panel. Beeman has a vast knowledge of the era and is a noted historian of the late 18th century. [1] Plain, Honest Men: The Making of the Constitution. By Richard Beeman, xii. [2] Ibid, xii. [3] Ibid, 63. Personal Academic Goals

The National Center for Education Statistics did a study on pay comparison between graduate and non-graduate workers. The study indicates that college graduates get paid an average of 38% more compare to those non-graduates. Therefore, finishing college is as important and should be a goal for most individuals if not everyone. My three personal academic goals that hope to achieve as a student here at the university are to earn a degree in management, learn how it affects roductivity in the workplace and also to improve written and oral communication skills.Understanding that going to college and graduate from it is no simple task. It involves numerous moving parts and those parts need to work together in harmony to achieve personal academic goals. Some of those moving parts that need enhancing are personnel responsibility, time management, written, and oral In my 24 years of military service, I did not take advantage of communications. acquiring a formal education even though the mil itary provides the opportunities and environment to take college courses and get a degree. When I was in the military, my priorities were more focus on getting the Job done making sure that military personnel get their personal records corrected and updated, get paid correctly and on time, provide briefs, submit reports, and conduct different types of trainings. After retiring from the military, my priority changes and academic success is in the front of it. By using my military educational benefits (GI bill) entitlement to jump start my desire to pursue higher learning and hoping to acquire a degree in management here at the university. The Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) researchers at the University of Michigan Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (Eric Dey, 2008) that in categories they surveyed; students and professionals strongly agree that personal responsibility should be a major focus of a college education. The same study also demonstrates that 40% of college students acquire or develop personal responsibility while in college pursuing a degree. To me, personal responsibility is to admit and accept that no one is perfect, will make mistakes, take ownership of my actions, seek assistance when eeded, learn from it, and correct it. Time management is also important to students' academic goals, personal life, and career success. Setting short-term and long-term goals are an integral part of time management. In the book â€Å"Becoming a Master Student† (Dave Ellis, 2011, p. 61), emphasizes that students have enough time for the things they want to accomplish. It takes thinking about possibilities and making conscious choices (p. 61). Students know that there are 24 hours in a day and 168 hours in a week, â€Å"no more no less. † By making conscious effort to write down hould help meet deadline and task. As a student, I need to recognize that procrastination is the enemy of time management; fight it , destroy it, and stop it now! Managing and following time management diligently with no hesitation is a model for success for students to follow.Another key element to personal academic success is the importance of improving one's written and oral communication skills are vital in the workplace. The utilization of computers has been the greatest force for change in the environment and activities of an organization (Uhlig, 1977). Electronic evices, such as computers have been increasingly used as a medium in written and oral communications in the world of business today. To succeed, I have to learn the foundations of basic writing, grammar, and speaking in front of people.I must also understand that communications skills are a necessity and important in the business world not only in todays environment but also in the future, In conclusion, there are no shortcuts to academic success and that graduating from college are extremely difficult and time consuming. By improving, mastering, and applying acquired skills n personal responsibility, time management, oral, and written communications can prepare me to succeed in academic settings.Investing time, attention, patience, and perseverance must be the focal point of emphasis in achieving my academic goals. It is time to learn, conquer fear, fght procrastination, and enjoy every moment of it.
